Who is Yoda?
Master Yoda is a fictional character from the Star Wars film series by filmmaker George Lucas. He is the most critical member of the Jedi Supreme Council. Wise and powerful, he led the Council for over 800 years.
The Star Wars story takes place in a distant galaxy of planets of all kinds. The plot’s center is a political dispute between an oppressive, dictatorial empire and a libertarian group.
The story is driven by humans, aliens, and robots. Master Yoda is an alien, only 76 centimeters with huge ears, who commands the Jedi (guardians of peace and justice) and uses the Force’s light side (energy field, type of power) to maintain stability in the Galaxy.
The wise and powerful Yoda was able to block the lightning of the dark side of the Force. He was a skilled fighter who used the lightsaber – a laser sword protecting him from danger.
He was an expert at turning defense into offense with his powers by using the Force to absolve blaster fire. Yoda protects himself and also heals wounds with the lightsaber.
Master Yoda appears in five episodes of the series. The first time is in the second film of the first trilogy: “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”, 1980.
He also appears in the third film of the first trilogy: “Return of the Jedi”, 1983. After 16 years, George Lucas changes the chronological Order of the series.
He created the first episode in which the whole story begins by releasing the film “Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace” in 1999, which was the fourth film of the saga released in theaters. It is the beginning of the new trilogy.
In the film “Star Wars – Episode I: Ghost Threat” (1999), the first film of the new trilogy, “where it all begins”, Master Yoda appears in a youthful appearance. Actor Frank Oz was commissioned to handle and perform the voice of the puppet Yoda.
As a master of the Jedi Council, Yoda is responsible for selecting and training future Jedi knights. Upon receiving Anakin Skywalker before the Council, Yoda senses that the young man is afraid of having to leave his mother and does not accept him into the Order.
In the second episode of the new trilogy “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” (2002), Master Yoda’s puppet was replaced by a digital version. However, Frank Oz still dubbed it. Master Yoda fights Count Dooku in this episode and shows his true power.
In the third film of the new Star Wars trilogy: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” (2005), Master Yoda was also dubbed by Frank Oz.
In the plot, General Grievous leads the Confederates in a battle against the Republic, while Darth Sidious tries to lure the warrior Anakin to the dark side of the Force. After the attack on the Jedi, Yoda goes into exile after failing to defeat Darth Sidious.
The fourth film that gives continuity to the plot of the series was the second film of the first trilogy, “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), in which Yoda is sought by Luke Skywalker, who wishes to be trained by the master to become a Jedi.
However, luck decides to leave Dadobah to confront Darth Vader in Cloud City and save his friends even without finishing the training. This film was the first film in which Yoda appeared.
In Star Wars: The Return of Jedi” (1983), when Luck returns to Dagobah to continue his apprenticeship, he finds Yoda in feeble health.
The master does not resist and dies at the age of 900. At the end of the film, the specter of Yoda appears alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, watching as Luck and his friends celebrate the freedom they have achieved for the Galaxy.
