Euoplocephalus Description

7 m long and weighing 2 tons, it was characteristic of the family of ankylosaurids, armored dinosaurs relatively short on legs, whose head was protected by bony plates, some of which could cover the eyelids.

Its neck and back were also equipped with plates, spikes, and horns. At the end of its tail was a club formed by bony protrusions in the extension of the last caudal vertebra.

He used it to defend himself against large predators, especially Carnosaurus, by hitting their hind legs. Despite its armor, it was probably quite fast, capable of running away or turning around to throw the flail of its tail at its attacker.

It is assumed that euoplocephalus lived alone, grazing on herbaceous plants in the forests. The 40 specimens found in North America (Montana, Alberta) were isolated from each other.
