The manga was one of the most popular titles offered in the Weekly Shōnen Jump from Shūeisha. The Spanish manga has the Japanese name, but the Spanish and Latin American anime has the American character.
Studio Gallop produced the anime, and later translated it into over twenty languages and sold in over sixty countries. It ended on September 29, 2004, with two hundred and twenty-four episodes.
Yu Gi Oh tells about the story of a young man named Yūgi Mutō, an amateur Duelist, who carries the Millennium Puzzle, one of the seven Millennium Objects given to him by his grandfather.
Several versions or editions have come out of this series, such as Yu-Gi-OH GX, Yu-Gi-OH 5d’s, and the latest one entitled Yu-Gi-OH Zexal, each with a vast world of new cards, new characters, and many other surprises very different from each of the previous versions.
In Yu-Gi-Oh GX, the rules are similar, but already in Season 5d’s, there is summons synchronized with tuner monsters and others not tuned Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal series, there is Excess or exceeded summons.
The story of Yu-Gi-Oh begins 5 thousand years ago. The pharaohs, who lived in ancient Egypt, disputed the Game of Darkness.
It was a battle of monsters so dangerous that it could end the world. To protect the world, one of the pharaohs hid the Dark Game’s power in seven relics.
Five thousand years later, a boy named Yugi Mutou found the power stored in one of the relics right now.
It was like this: Yugi won an Egyptian puzzle – the Millennium Enigma (which was, in fact, one of the relics that hid part of the magical power of the Game of Darkness).
Then, when Yugi put together the puzzle, he discovered the secret and got this power.
Yugi loves to play the Monster Duel (a card game). What he doesn’t know is that the Monster Duel is the same as the Dark Game. Who invented the Monster Duel was Maximillion Pegasus – who also owns one of the seven relics: the Millennium Eye.
But Maximillion Pegasus is a villain and used the Millennium Eye’s power to reactivate the Dark Game (there, to disguise, he changed the name to Monster Duel).
Yugi will try, with the power taken from the Millennium Enigma, to save the world. When Yugi uses this power, he becomes Yami Yugi. The Millennium Riddle has the soul of the pharaoh Yami (who was also called Yu-Gi-Oh).
